Vikasana, a social service initiative by students of Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIMB), has been honoured with the ‘Yuva Chetana’ award in recognition of volunteering by youth in community development.

Vikasana was honoured  under the ‘well-organised group’ category for their ‘warriors of change’ initiative which inspired youth in colleges and universities in Bangalore to take up community service activities.  Srikanth Prabhu, a PGP (2012-14) student and president of Vikasana, said: “I am sure the award will motivate the subsequent batches in the IIMB to join Vikasana, which was set up in 1990.”

Some of the activities by Vikasana include providing on-campus education for children of the construction workers, pitching in with scholarships for children of IIMB’s mess workers, host thanksgiving lunches for mess workers.
