BU VC sets deadline for completion of varsity buildings

Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor B Thimme Gowda on Wednesday called for the quick completion of work on a number of buildings under construction.

“If the contractors do not complete the work within six months, I will recommend the government to take severe action against them,” he said.

The projects include construction of the academic centre, visual arts, dance and drama building, two buildings on the Jnanabharathi campus, Kolar’s postgraduate centre and the one on the Central College premises.

The works, which were launched in 2006 and 2007 had not been completed till now, despite spending Rs 15 crore on them. Thimme Gowda said that Rs 20 crore was being spent to complete the construction works.

Fake marks card case

The university has decided to suspend the computer operator who was found responsible for issuing fake marks card to the BCom student of  Bishop Cotton Academy of Professional Management.

Thimme Gowda said Subramanyam had issued the marks card during October 2014. He also said a committee had been formed to conduct an inquiry in the matter and based on its report, a police complaint would be filed against the student who has taken the marks card without appearing for the examination.
