<p>Briefing reporters after the meeting, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar said the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has given its letter of intent for setting up the polytechnics and the college. The locations for the new polytechnics are: Mudhol, Kartagi, Kalage, Mundgod, Hosadurga, KGF, Harihar, Dharwad, Hoovina- hadagali, Harapanahalli, Kudlagi, Bankapura, Devadurga, Hiriyur, Aurad, Surpur, Athani, Tedal, Jalki, Siddapura, Immadihalli and Channasandra.<br /><br />The government plans to start the polytechnic colleges at least in a few locations from the current academic year, by running the courses in degree colleges under shift system. Meantime, new buildings for the colleges will also be constructed, he said. <br /><br />The Cabinet decided to leave it to the discretion of the Chief minister to decide on the new Advocate General. Incumbent Uday Holla had tendered his resignation earlier this week citing personal reasons.<br /><br />The Cabinet also gave administrative approval for installation of a 111-foot statue of Basaveshwara at Bishmakere in Gadag. The statue of the 12th century social reformer will be installed in a specially developed park at a cost of Rs 7.64 crore.<br /><br />Other decisions include: 10 per cent increment for 1,945 non-official employees of Mysore Paper Mills; Underground drainage project for Ullal, Dakshina Kannada district at a cost of Rs 65.71 crore.</p>
