Keying in answers to 20 simple questions, will measure the skills and aptitude of the students and will guide them to the right stream.<br /><br />For students who want to pursue Engineering after PUC and are not able to choose the right branch can answer 30 questions and pick the best branch among the 25 options available in the State.<br /><br />Speaking to Deccan Herald, Ananth Prabhu said that the application is the fruit of long research with inputs taken from the student community and solutions provided in accordance with the experience and knowledge of the finest engineers and academicians.<br /><br />"Incompetent guidance, parental aspirations imposed on kids, peer pressures and sheer ignorance leave even the brightest students confused. Without adept help, such students would land up in a wrong career which would have a disastrous effect on their academic as well as professional life. The portal has been designed for the benefit of students and can be used for free," he said.<br /><br />The portal has been designed under the guidance of Visvesvaraya Technical University Vice Chancellor Dr Maheshappa. "We designed the portal last year, and launched it as a beta product. Around 5,000 people viewed it. We then re-developed the portal and re-launched the 2.0 version. In the last 15 days, we have around 24,024 hits," informed Prabhu.<br /><br />Before taking the branch selector test, Prabhu advises students to take the 'Brain map' test. "We have two halves in the brain called left and right. People who use the right brain are creative and those who use left are logical, technical and systematic. By taking the test, one can understand which side of brain they use," he explained.<br /><br />The portal also has tips on good health and nutrition for scholars, tips to prepare for competitive examinations, tips to excel and future career choices under the arts, science and commerce streams. Model CET papers have been uploaded and model NEET papers will be uploaded shortly. The questions on the website are not subject related. Students are required to register before taking the test.<br /><br />The techie team is all set to add medical branch selector to the portal in a week's time.
