CESC AEE caught while taking bribe

The officers of Anti Corruption Bureau caught an assistant executive engineer (AEE) of CESC (Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation) Madikeri Subdivision red-handed when he was receiving a bribe from a farmer at his office in the city.

The officers caught AEE Azad Shaukat Ali Doddamani when he was receiving the bribe from farmer Kaverappa, a resident of Cherambane village, to provide power connection to his irrigation pumpset.

Kaverappa had submitted an application to the CESC seeking electricity connection to his irrigation pumpset in his farm.

Shaukat Ali had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 to get the work done.

Kaverappa, however, submitted a complaint to the ACB in this regard. A trap was then laid to catch the officer.

Accordingly, Doddamani was caught when he was receiving a bribe of Rs 7,500 from Kaverappa.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of ACB DySP Poornachandra Tejaswi.
