<p>Chikkamagaluru: A bike rider died after the branch of a tree fell on him on Monday as rain, accompanied by strong winds, continued to lash the district. </p><p>The deceased has been identified as Anil Ruzario (50), a resident of Kadabagere Bilukoppa. He was riding his bike from his village to Balehonnur when a branch fell on him near Elekalalu on the Balehonnur–Chikkamagaluru road. He suffered severe head injuries. Another tree uprooted and fell on the Kogre road, located below the Venkataramana Temple, cutting off access from the Meguru to Kogre and Sringeri. In both locations, the trees have brought down electricity poles, resulting in a power outage in nearby villages.</p><p>In view of heavy rain forecast for Chikkamagaluru district, Deputy Commissioner Meena Nagaraj had declared holiday for anganwadis, primary and high schools in six taluks - Chikkamagaluru, Mudigere, Kalasa, Sringeri, Koppa and NR Pura on Monday. </p><p><strong>Ban on heavy vehicles</strong></p><p>The DC has banned the movement of heavy vehicles from Tanikodi to S K Border on NH 169 which connects Sringeri to Dakshina Kannada. The heavy vehicles have been asked to move via Kalasa- Kudremukh- SK Border. </p>
