Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday said that the government would order a judicial inquiry and a CID probe into the police firing that killed two protesters when the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act turned violent in Mangaluru last week in which two protesters were killed.

Speaking to media persons here, Yediyurappa alleged that people from Kerala were responsible for the violence in Mangaluru.

"They attempted to torch police stations. So, police firing was inevitable," defended Yediyurappa.

On CAA, he said there is no threat to Indian Muslims from the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

"Muslims must remember this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clarified this in New Delhi."

He also made it clear that the government is not against peaceful protests but it would not tolerate those who take the law into their hands.

He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Laxman S Savadi.
