<p> Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar who was supposed to inaugurate synthetic track and sports hostel at Mangala Stadium, ended up symbolically inaugurating seven different projects at the Stadium on Monday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>He unveiled the foundation stones for the Rs 3.85-crore international swimming pool near Urwa Marigudi, Rs 3-crore Balmatta Women's Government First Grade College new building, Forest Department Mangalore Circle office building, pre-metric girl’s hostel near Urwa Wells, upgradation of fire station and construction of CFO/RFO quarters at Pandeshwara in Mangalore at a cost of Rs 2.52 crore.<br /><br />The sports residential hostel for which the CM laid the foundation stone will come up at a cost of Rs 99.90 lakh. <br /><br />After inaugurating the Rs 3.52-crore 400-metre synthetic track, the Chief Minister along with MLAs ran a short distance on the track.<br /><br />Bio-fuel<br /><br />The two-tonne capacity bio-plant that generates bio fuel using organic waste was inaugurated.<br /><br />“Nisargruna” biomethanation plant has been set up using the technology developed by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Trombay. About Rs 38 lakh has been spent for setting up of the bio-plant and installing the generator.<br /><br />Electricity is generated from the bio-fuel. Every day the 160 cumtr bio-fuel produced generates 240 units of electricity. This will light around 200 street lights.<br /><br />Tertiary Treatment Plant<br /><br />The 22.5-million litre per day capacity tertiary treatment plant constructed by Mangalore SEZ Ltd at a cost of Rs 18 crore was also inaugurated.<br /><br />The plant will treat the secondary treated effluent of sewage treatment plant of Mangalore City Corporation. <br /><br />The tertiary treatment plant will give treated effluent of suitable quality for industrial use in MRPL and the units of MSEZL. The plant is under trial run. <br /><br />KPT Junction to Maravoor four-lane road which was constructed at a cost of Rs 28 crore was inaugurated. The six-km-long road has footpath, bus stop and drain. The road will also be beautified at a cost of Rs 13 lakh.<br /><br />The first and second phase of Mini Vidhana Soudha were inaugurated and foundation was laid for the third phase.<br /><br />The CM said that Rs 30 crore has been released for the construction of District court and Rs 10 crore for Vakhilara Bhavan. He promised to solve drinking water woes in the state through 'Soubhaghya Sanjeevini' scheme.<br /></p>
