Noting that people’s representatives from the region themselves were responsible for the backwardness of North Karnataka, Council pro tem chairman Basavaraj Horatti said on Saturday that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was ready to call a meeting in a district in the region to discuss the issues.
He told mediapersons here that demanding separate statehood had no meaning, instead of trying to get more development works for the region.
Before calling for a bandh, one should list out injustices done to this region. People’s representatives, seers and others in the region should first hold a meeting and should collect data about the development of the region. That should be later discussed with the chief minister, he said.
MP Pralhad Joshi charged that injustice was done to North Karnataka region whenever the JD(S) was in power.
