The members of BJP district unit staged a protest in the city on Tuesday demanding an apology from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his statements over consumption of beef.

The protesters, who gathered near the deputy commissioner’s office, raised slogans against the chief minister. They said he has hurt the sentiments of Hindus by issuing such statements.

“The chief minister Siddaramaiah has said that nobody can question him if he prefers to eat beef. Despite knowing that Hindus consider cow as a holy animal, he has been issuing such statements. The people of all religions have voted him to power. But he is trying to keep a section of the people happy with such remarks,” they criticised.

Chief minister Siddaramaiah should withdraw his statements and seek a public apology, they demanded.
