A delegation from Kodagu led by District BJP President M P Sunil Subramani, MLC S G Medappa, district BJP Secretary B D Manjunath and Usha Tejaswi met Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa recently in Bangalore.

The delegation told the CM that Kodagu district did not receive any compensation from the government for the harvest loss in 2007-08. “However, Centre had released Rs 1.37 crore to Chikmagalur district for the loss.”

There are technical problems to provide direct compensation to the growers. To solve the problem, a delegation will be taken to centre soon.

CM has also assured to discuss the matter with Assembly Deputy Speaker K G Bopaiah and MLA M P Appacchuranajn after they return from foreign trip.

Addressing a press meet, MLC S G Medappa said “with the effort put in by MP D V Sadananda Gowda, the Centre has released Rs 1.37 crore to Chikmagalur.”

BJP District President Sunil Subramani urged the MP H Vishwanath to solve the problems being faced by the coffee growers in the district.
