<p>Many historical monuments at Hampi in Hospet are inundated following copious rainfall in the taluk from Thursday afternoon till midnight.<br /><br /></p>.<p>On an average the taluk received 30 mm of rain while Hampi received 32.8 mm of rainfall.<br /><br />The Virupaksheshwara Temple at Hampi was inundated and there was almost a feet of water inside the temple complex.<br /><br />This inconvenienced many pilgrims and tourists. Apart from this, monuments like Kamal Mahal, Kudure Mantapa, Saalu Mantapa, Pan Supari Bazaar and others were also waterlogged.<br /><br />Hospet<br /><br />The city received heavy rainfall till Thursday midnight while it continued to drizzle till 3 am on Friday. It received a rainfall of 40 mm.<br /><br />Following the showers, many low-lying areas in the town were flooded with water gushing into many houses. Some of the worst-affected areas are Nehru Colony, Patel Nagar, NC Colony, Azad Nagar and slum areas. On the College Road, many tree branches had fallen affecting the movement people and vehicles.<br /><br />The branches were cleared by CMC officers on Friday morning. There was also no power supply in many parts of the town due to rains.<br /><br />After a brief break on Friday morning, it started raining in the afternoon, inconveniencing people and in particular schoolchildren who were returning home.</p>
