Obviously taking cue from ‘Aadarsha Dampathigalu’ the organisers had named the contest as ‘Apoorva Jodigalu’ held at MMC and RI Platinum Jubilee Hall in J K Grounds.
In all 15 couples participated vying for prizes in the competition that lasted four hours.
When the juries announced the results, Nandini and Lokesh from Sunnadakeri emerged lucky to ‘ride home’ a moped-the first prize.
The second prize winner Aishwarya Basavaraj from Sharadadevi Nagar were feted with gold coin, followed by TV set for third prize winner Netravathi Swamy of N R Mohalla and refrigerator for Varalakshmi and Diwakar from Paduvarahalli-fourth prize.
Three rounds
The contest was conducted in three rounds with five contestants in each round. All they had to face was a question to test their general knowledge, ability to display acting skills in mono acting and also some fun with ‘Vinoda’.
The contestants had to perform accordingly to the topics given in each category written on chits in a bowl. Two were selected in each rounds, who made it to the finals of the contest.
M Basavaraju, Srinivas and ‘Nalabeedhi’ Ravi were the juries.The contest was organised jointly by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Shetty faction) and Vontikoppal Kannada Geleyara Balaga.
In his inaugural address MLA V Sreenivas Prasad lauded the hosts for thinking of a contest when harmony among couple is vanishing with every passing day.
Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) Chairman G T Devegowda selected the first among 70 couples who had enrolled for the contest, by lottery. However, owing to time constraints the contestants were restricted to 15.
Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Vice-chancellor Prof K S Rangappa couple, DCP (Law and order) Basavaraj Malagathi and others were present.
