<p>The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is in the process of establishing a 1,000 personnel-strong Mahila (women’s) battalion in Mysore, K Arakesh, the outgoing Inspector-General of Police (Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep), CRPF said here on Friday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Announcing his retirement, he said that CRPF has acquired 100 acres of land for the training facility at Mysore, where the women, including officers, will be trained. As many as 438 acres have been acquired in Belgaum for a police commando training facility that will focus on jungle warfare and other areas of training required to tackle Maoists.<br /><br />The CRPF has procured about 100 Belgian Malinois pups and trained about 60 of them. “These are the dogs used by the US Navy Seals and are extremely intelligent. They adapt to any climatic condition, eat anything that their master (constable) eats. Aggressive and great sniffers, we have already deployed them at many of the naxal-affected regions,” he said.<br /><br />He said the IT facility at Yelahanka here cater to all the needs of the Force nationally and that about 7,000 personnel have already been trained on various aspects of the IT.<br /><br />“We are also creating a Institute of Catering Management here that will train 10,000 cooks/chefs on how to use locally available materials from various regions of the country and cook food that can cater to the diverse needs of the personnel, who are from across India,” he said, adding that Karnataka will get another group centre at Shimoga apart from the one existing at Yelahanka.<br /><br />Arakesh said that post his retirement, the post of IGP (Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep) would be temporarily withdrawn. “There was another post of IG that was to be created. However, until the Government approves of it, this post will be temporarily withdrawn,” he said.</p>
