Most of the roads in the city are asphalted. But, Dechuru Road, comprising of three wards, is being totally ignored, said the local residents.

The road in front of 'Ashwatha Katte' is ridden with potholes. As a result, vehicles and pedestrians face a lot of hassles while using the road.

Even though Dechuru-Mysuru Road was asphalted in a great hurry, the particular stretch of road has been deliberately left out by the City Municipal Council.

The local residents said that the officials, despite knowing about the poor condition of the road, have turned a blind eye to the problem.

During emergencies, the people suffer a lot, as vehicles like autorickshaws do not ply on the road.

Local resident Umesh Gowda said that a former president of City Municipal Council is a resident of Dechuru. But, he is not showing any interest in improving the road, by mounting pressure on the CMC authorities.

Umesh Gowda asked whether the elected representatives should serve the people only while in power.

He also said that the attention of the CMC commissioner has been drawn towards the same. The officer in turn has assured of asphalting the road.

If the road development work is not taken up within the next week, a protest will be staged in front of the CMC by the local residents, he added.
