As many as 54 health officials — mainly district surgeons — underwent a training programme on hospital emergency preparedness plan organised by the State Disaster Management Authority on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Tushar Girinath, Secretary, Revenue and also Additional In-charge for Disaster Management, said the government will gather feedback from individual doctors to upgrade government hospitals in districts.
Dr Aruna C Ramesh, chief of accident emergency service at M S Ramaiah Hospital, said that most of the doctors have no clue about handling any emergency situation.
She said that they were given instances to analyse an emergency situation and respond to it. The concept of Incident Command System, which includes operation, planning, logistics, finance and administration, was explained to the participants, she added.
