Elephants camp in coffee estate

Forest department officials tried their level best to chase a herd of elephants that have been camping inside a coffee estate at Mangaladevi Nagara on the outskirts of Madikeri on Monday.

 A herd of five elephants, including a calf, have been camping in the region for the last two to three days. Kavadis, along with two tamed elephants and Forest department officials visited the estate after receiving a complaint from the residents and started an operation to chase away the elephants, but in vain. The drive will be continued, officials added.
