<p> A farmer attempted to end life in the presence of officials who had come to take possession of an encroached government land in Madinayakanahalli village of the taluk on Tuesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to police, the district administration has come up with a plan to construct a road between Kanganallu and Madinayakanahalli villages and had instructed to clear the land of encroachment. <br /><br />Refusal to clear<br /><br />Tahsildar Mangala and other officials visited Madinayakanahalli and were engaged in clearing the encroachment when Narayanaswamy, who refused to clear the encroachment, consumed poison. <br /><br />He was immediately rushed to the government hospital. <br /><br />Acting on a complaint lodged by the tahsildar, Betamangala police arrested Narayanaswamy and later released him on bail.<br /><br />Booked for assault<br /><br />The Anderson Pet police have registered a case against a person for obstructing police in discharging their duty.<br /><br />Sudhakar, a resident of Krishagiri Lane had parked his two-wheeler impeding movement of vehicles on Bazaar Road of Anderson Pet. <br /><br />Traffic police constable Ramesh asked him to remove the vehicle. Sudhakar, however, refused to do so, abused the cop and assaulted him, police said.<br /></p>
