The State Government had brought a temporary ban on use of Endosulfan pesticide from February 18 as the use of this has caused physical disability among people but the students on their field work found bottles of the pesticide ‘Endoshree’ hung near the gherkin creepers.

Many do not know the harms caused by the pesticide, hence an information camp will be organised at nine Anganawadi centres in Alike Village, said Canara First Grade College Principal G N Bhat.

Canara First Grade College SCRC students have adopted Shaktinagar and free health camp has been organised. It was found that people in Shaktinagar are deprived of their basic amenities like BPL cards, toilets, drinking water facilities, proper approach roads, drainage facilities and others.

A comprehensive report about the existing problems in Shaktinagar will be submitted to Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Dr K N Vijayprakash, informed Bhat.
