Farmers oppose Cauvery Aarti, amusement park at KRS

Mandya:  The leaders of Rajya Raitha Sangha have decided to totally oppose the Cauvery Aarti and the amusement park projects, which they claimed would pose a threat to the KRS dam.

Participating in the meeting convened by District in-charge Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy in the city on Friday, the leaders explained about problems caused by the projects. “Who had sought Rs 92-crore Cauvery Aarti and Rs 2,600-crore amusement park projects? Instead of spending crores on the projects, the money can be judiciously spent for the repairs of the sub-canals and desilting of lakes and ponds,” they added.

Deputy Chief Minister’s Technical Advisor Jayaprakash had come from Bengaluru to attend the meeting. When he tried to explain about the two projects, the farmers did not give him an opportunity to explain.
