A male elephant calf that had gotten separated from its mother and was found moving around at Chikkabettageri in Anekadu was rescued by the forest department officials.

The male calf was around seven months old. RFO Ananya Kumar and a team rescued the calf and brought it to Anekadu elephant camp. The calf is healthy and is being fed grass, sugarcane, cucumber, banana and water.

The RFO said that the calf does not allow anyone to go near it.

The officials have started searching for the mother elephant in Anekadu and Dubare Reserve Forest.

Normally, the mother starts making a huge sound while searching for her baby. Once we notice such an elephant, the calf will be sent to her, said Ananya Kumar.
