Four killed as tractor plunges into tank

Chikkavva (55),  Rekha (18), Shilpa (11) and Santosh (9), all from Janeharu village in Chikkanayakanahalli are the dead. The condition of eight of the 18 injured is critical.
The tractor was carrying 36 people including children and women, all belonging to Valmiki community.

They had been to Mylaralingeshwara temple at Yaramaranahalli in the taluk on Sunday.

The accident occurred on their way back from the temple at 9.30 am on Monday.

It is said that the tyre of the vehicle burst near the tank and the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Fire services personnel launched efforts to recover bodies from the tank.

Deputy Commissioner C Somashekhar, Superintendent of Police T R Suresh, Legislator C B Sureshbabu and others visited the spot.
