Gear up to tackle monsoon, officials told

Additional DC K M Chandre Gowda urged officials to gear up to tackle monsoon in the district.

Speaking at a preparatory meeting, he said the district receives highest rainfall in the state. The officials must be prepared to face any problems that might arise following heavy rainfall.

He urged the officials to help those who are in needy during monsoon. Karadigodu, Nellyahudikeri Guhya, Balamuri, Bethri, Bellumadu, Hodduru, Emmemadu, Kanive, Dubare, Lakshmanatheertha and other places suffer from flood every year. The officials should take all necessary measures to evict the residents to safer place in case of emergency.

The gruel centre should be opened and all measures should be taken to save the lives of the cattle during flood, he said.

He said during rainy season, there are possibility of outbreak of contagious diseases. The health officials should be ready tackle the situation.

All the officials should be in headquarters during monsoon. Prior permission should be taken from the authorities concerned before taking leave, he said.

Additional DC said that Tahsildars should hold review meeting in the taluk-level and there should be no delay in payment of compensation.

District statistician said that there are 48 rain guages in the district. However, 8 guages should be repaired.
