The state government will consider demands for new taluks in addition to the 50 already announced, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa informed the Legislative Assembly  on Monday.

Replying to a question by T Ramamurthy (Cong), Thimmappa said the government plans to complete the process of creating 50 new taluks, which had been already announced, by January next year.

However, there have been demands for more taluks and the government will consider them if they are feasible, he said.

Ramamurthy sought taluk status for Parashuramapura in Chitradurga district, D N Jeevaraj and C T Ravi (both BJP) sought carving out of Savali taluk in Chikkamagaluru district and Appachu Rajan (BJP) demanded formation of Cauvery taluk in Kodagu district.
