Karnataka govt tables bill to rename RDPR varsity after Mahatma Gandhi

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Tuesday tabled an amendment to the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University Act in the Legislative Assembly.

The bill intends to rename the Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University as the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University. 

The government’s move comes days after it declared in the 2025-26 Budget that the Bengaluru City University will be renamed after former prime minister Manmohan Singh as Dr Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University.
