Govt wants Montek to head BASE governing council

The state government is planning to appoint former deputy chairman of planning commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia as the chairman of the Governing Council of the Bengaluru Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE).

Speaking to reporters here Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy said Ahluwalia will be in Bengaluru on July 27 and the government will make the offer to him.

BASE is proposed to be developed as an institution of excellence of global standards and is coming up on the Bengaluru University campus.
