<p>Bengaluru: Home Minister G Parameshwara on Monday told the Legislative Assembly that his department would look into “police failure” in the gold smuggling case involving actor Ranya Rao, especially allegations that she was given security and escort by law enforcement personnel. </p>.<p>Parameshwara said this in response to BJP’s V Sunil Kumar (Karkala) who raised the Ranya Rao case during the Zero Hour. “It is said that there’s an international racket behind this gold smuggling. Has Bengaluru become the hub for this? And why was Ranya Rao given police escort?” Kumar said. </p>.<p>The Karkala MLA also cited media reports about the alleged involvement of two ministers in the Ranya Rao case. He demanded answers from the government.</p>.Jain Development Corporation proposed, says Karnataka minister Zameer.<p>Parameshwara said the government had no information about the Ranya Rao case from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).</p>.<p>“This comes under the union government. Even the (Bengaluru) airport doesn’t come under us administratively. We have no information,” he said.</p>.<p>“We have no information about the case being given to the CBI. The state government knows only what is being reported in the media,” he added. </p>.<p>Kumar asked how Ranya Rao, the daughter of IPS officer Ramachandra Rao, was given protocol facilities.</p>.<p>“We will look into this in our department,” Parameshwara said. “Whatever police failure was there, we’ll look into that.” Kumar was not convinced with Parameshwara saying the government has no information about the case. “How can the government not know anything? Is the government trying to shield someone?” </p>.<p>On reports about ministers being involved in the case, Parameshwara said the CBI must investigate this. </p>
