<p>Bengaluru, DHNS: Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar on Sunday announced that the April instalment of the <br>Gruha Lakshmi scheme would be released within a week.</p>.<p>She, however, clarified that the delay in the disbursement of the March <br>instalment was due to routine financial year closure work.</p>.<p>“I agree that the March instalment was delayed due to financial closure work. However, the April instalment is ready and will be released within a week in a phased manner,” the minister promised, while speaking to reporters after meeting AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge at his residence here.</p>.<p><strong>‘Courtesy call’</strong></p>.<p>Describing her visit to Kharge’s house as a “courteous call,” Hebbalkar said she sought the blessings and guidance of the Congress veteran.</p>.<p>“Kharge is a stalwart of our party. I visited him to discuss various matters and get his advice,” the minister said.</p>.<p>“The party president enquired about the Gruha Lakshmi scheme in particular — whether the money is reaching eligible women, how the department is performing and if I’ve been visiting the districts,” she said.</p>
