The vacation bench of High Court, on Thursday, granted stay on the appointment of president and members for various consumer forums across the State.

Hearing a petition seeking the quashing of government’s notification dated May 16, 2014, to appoint the staff for consumer courts, Justice Mohan Shantana Goudar ordered stay on fresh appointments.

The High Court had earlier directed the government to complete the appointments for consumer forums by April 29, 2014, to which the government had submitted that the appointment process was on.

On May 16, 2014, a fresh notification was issued. The same has now been challenged.

Telgi’s bail plea The kingpin of the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket Abdul Karim Telgi has approached the High Court for bail for a month to attend his daughter's wedding scheduled on June 5, 6 and 8.

Telgi, though convicted in all his cases in the Special Court, but was acquitted by the High Court.

Hearing the bail petition, Justice Mohan Shantana Goudar and Justice B Manohar adjourned the case to June 2, 2014 and have directed CBI to file objections.
