HDK offers puja to 'B' forms at Sringeri

Last Updated 01 May 2019, 12:04 IST

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, wife Anitha Kumaraswamy and their son Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the JD(S) candidate from Mandya parliamentary constituency, on Monday performed special puja at Sharada Mutt, Sringeri, in view of the Lok Sabha elections.

Kumaraswamy and his family visited Gurunivas at Narasimhavana and sought blessings of Bharathi Theertha Swami and Vidhushekar Bharathi Swami. They also visited Kalikamba and Durgamba temple in Sringeri.

Speaking to reporters, Kumaraswamy said, "I have come here with B forms to seek blessings of the Goddess for all coalition candidates in the state, he said.

Replying to a query on Sumalatha decision to contest from Mandya, he said, "We are not losing sleep over Sumalatha's candidature. She's been campaigning in Mandya district for the past two months. We do not have any issues even if the members of the film fraternity campaign for Sumalatha in the constituency. Even I have come from a film background. Let them (actors) make towering assurances to the people of Mandya."

When media persons informed Nikhil about the presence of actors Darshan and Yash at Sumalatha's press conference in Bengaluru, he was taken aback for a moment, before continuing, "I will wish them good luck. People of Mandya respect and love our family. I have a responsibility to continue the tradition. I am confident of winning the election."
