High alert at KRS dam; KSISF deployed near all dams in Cauvery basin

Srirangapatna: Security at Krishanaraja Sagar dam in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya taluk has been tightened further, following Indian Army’s strike at terrorist bases in Pakistan.

The Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) is closely monitoring people moving through the dam’s southern gate, Brindavan entrance gate and also those entering the Orchid Hotel. They are all being screened by the KSISF. High alert is in place near the KRS dam and where there is movement of people. The police are on duty 24x7, said KSISF Assistant Commandant Pramod.

Around 56 personnel, including one Assistant Commandant, three inspectors are on duty in three shifts. The leaves of the personnel have been cancelled now. Those moving in a suspicious manner are inquired, he said.

In addition, the KSISF has been deployed at other dams in the Cauvery basin - Kabini, Harangi, Hemavathi, Nugu, and Taraka - according to the officer.
