I-T raids on Jalappa-owned institutions in Kolar

A team of Income Tax department officials conducted raids on the group of institutions owned by former Union minister R L Jalappa and inspected documents on Thursday.

I-T officials conducted raids, on suspected tax evasion, simaltaniously at R L Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre and other educational institutions owned by the former Union minister at Tamaka on the outskirts of the city. The officials inspected the documents and records till late in the evening.

They obtained information pertaining to tax and the financial matters from R L Jalappa and others. The officials, are believed to have confiscated several documents. The officials refused to give away details about the raid to media.
