Last Updated 11 January 2018, 19:05 IST

"Many people are blaming us for bringing various projects to the twin cities as their implementation is causing inconvenience to the public. But, the face of the twin cities will change in one year, and people will be happy after the completion of developmental works," said Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar.

Speaking after receiving a felicitation from Jagadish Shettar Abhimani Vakilara Balaga here on Thursday, he stated that the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), 24X7 water supply scheme, and underground drainage line laying works are causing inconvenience to the public, but they would make the life comfortable, after completion.

For the first time, we have brought Central Road Fund (CRF) grants to develop roads in the city limits, and Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has provided record amount of funds using his discretionary powers, he said.

'Support in polls'

Recalling his days as a lawyer and lawyers' support he received during elections, Mr Shettar asked his admirer lawyers to take the responsibility to get support for him in forthcoming Assembly elections.

"After my first election, I had decided to return to practice as a lawyer, if defeated. But people have not allowed that, and have elected me continuously," he added.

Rashtra Rakshana Vedike convener Ashok Anwekar noted that 'Selfie with Shettar' programme would be launched for advocates, so that they can use that image to get support for Mr Shettar in their areas and to work for his victory in the elections.

Senior advocates S S Ganji, A V Baliger, M S Banad, and others were present.
