Vice-chancellor of Karnataka State Open University K S Rangappa regretted over declining interest towards literature in the modern world.

Releasing book ‘Shabdamahimaru’, written by retired Hindi professor of Mysore University Thippeswamy here recently, he said: “Many students and professors of the University of Mysore have achieved a lot in literature, but are overlooked in the present world.

He opined that there was a need to encourage talents to enrich Kannada literature.
Director of research and extention centre of Kuvempu Open University Rangaswamy said Thippeswamy was an example of being active in literature while many professors do not involve in creative activities, either during their tenure or post-retirement.

Additional superintendent of JSS Hospital Dr C N Mruthyunjayappa and writer Thippeswamy were present.
