Last Updated 01 May 2017, 19:47 IST

The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is building a satellite by name ‘Aditya’ to collect information about the sun.

Speaking to reporters at Ujjini near here on Monday, Isro chairperson Dr A S Kiran Kumar said that attempts were being made to gather vital information during celestial events such as the solar eclipse. “Isro is gearing up for the launch of GSLV Mark-II and Mark-III satellites next month,” he said.

Dr Kumar said that satellites had helped in identifying the exact location of groundwater resource. Governments have made use of this information to sink three lakh to four lakh borewells.
