JSS Ayurveda hospital gets new campus

“Yoga is not only an exercise; it’s a way of healing and a way of treatment. The Ayurveda and Yoga go together and people will start accepting both in a big way in coming days,” he said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed JSS Ayurvedic Hospital building here.

Explaining that Ayush was life and Veda, the knowledge, he said Ayurveda was the basis and first step of the world civilisation towards developing modern medical science.

“The modern medical science is only 200 years old. We have respect to it as it is a science. But, the Ayurveda can be traced to thousands of years and is present in Indian civilisation since the origin of plants (medicinal and herbal) on earth. It is not only Ayurveda, but the agricultural system, space science, economic science, all existed in ancient India,” he said.

Every Indian should be proud of their culture and heritage. The Ayurveda can cure many diseases and disorders like hypertension, sugar, rheumatic arthritis, thyroid and kidney problems.

Cure ailments

The modern medicine cannot offer permanent solution to all these problems. They could only offer relief. But, Ayurveda and yoga system of medicine has the strength to cure these ailments.

“There is treatment for cancer and reduction of blood platelet count in Ayurveda,” he added.

He bemoaned that the politicians had neglected the Ayurveda system of medicine all these years. Sushrutha has shown about 100 types of eye and brain surgeries. But, this asset is lost and we have forgotten all these traditional knowledge due to neglect of Government, Ramdev criticised.

He said the demand for ayurvedic medicines, food supplements and herbal cosmetics world over, including India had a potential to generate ` 100 lakh crore business for the country if the Government promoted Ayurveda in a big way. “But, who will explain this to our corrupt politicians. They have not time to amass the wealth of the country. India is not poor.

Indians are poor because of the corrupt political leaders and officials,” the yoga guru ridiculed.

On the occasion, Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev of Isha Foundation opened the newly constructed Ayurveda medical college block. Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra, Siddeshwara Swamy of Jnanayoga Ashrama of Bijapur, Raghunandan Sharma, President, Indian Medical Systems Central Parishath, Mayor Sandesh Swamy, MUDA Chairman L Nagendra others were present.
