<p>Bengaluru: The government on Tuesday tabled 21 bills in the Legislative Assembly, including an amendment that allows medical graduates to do their compulsory one-year service in urban areas if rural vacancies are filled.</p>.<p>The Karnataka Compulsory Service by Candidates Completed Medical Courses (Amendment) Bill, 2025, amends the 2012 Act. The Health Department has argued that the law was necessitated by the “surplus” MBBS graduates even after rural postings.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The government also tabled the Karnataka Tank Conservation and Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2025. This amendment intends to remove the uniform 30-metre buffer zone (where no construction, commercial, recreational or industrial activities can be taken up) for all lakes.</p>
