Karnataka will send relief materials worth ₹10 crore and a team of doctors to the neighbouring state of Kerala where over 20 persons have died due to flash floods and landslides.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, expressing shock over the deaths, has promised “every possible support” toward flood relief efforts. He said he had discussed the flood relief with his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan.

Kumaraswamy has directed Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar to arrange for relief materials and doctors to be sent to Kerala.

Kumaraswamy also said that 75,000 cusecs of water is being released from the Kabini reservoir on Kerala’s request as the backwaters are adding to the flood woes.
