Koppal murder: Opposition wants NIA probe

Bengaluru: The opposition BJP-JD(S) combine petitioned Governor Thawarachand Gehlot on Wednesday seeking a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the killing of Gavisiddappa Nayak at Koppal, claiming that it was carried out by “Jihadi” elements.

Raising the issue in the Assembly during Zero Hour, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to Nayak’s family. He said Nayak was killed on August 3 because he had a relationship with a woman from another religion.

He was “brutally murdered” by a person named Syed, Vijayendra said.
