A man has been found guilty of stabbing a youth to death over old rivalry by The First Additional District and Sessions Court.

The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on December 26.

The convict is Ashrith alias Ashu (23), son of a former corporator B Kamalaksha, a resident of Hoigebail in Ashoknagar in the city.

He had stabbed to death one Sanjay alias Varun (19).

Ashrith, who had come out on bail, was recently remanded in judicial custody.

On May 22, 2014 Sanjay, along with his friend Mahesh, was on his way to visit the house of another friend to celebrate his birthday.

However, Sanjay met Ashrith on the way and a heated argument broke out between the two due to old rivalry.

Ashrith, who alerted his friends, asked them to come to the spot.

When Sanjay attempted to flee, Ashrith stabbed him to death. Five others, who were also facing the charges, have been acquitted by the First Additional District and Sessions Court.
