Minor girl rescued from cop's house

The incident came to fore when a team of officers attached to the children helpline and an NGO raided the house of inspector M N Shashidhar near Vijayanagar police station in the city.

Shashidhar is currently posted as Hunsur circle police inspector. He was away on work, while his wife was at home when the officers knocked on the door.

The girl identified as Tanuja, 12 years, is the daughter of Annappa and Manjamma of Konanur in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district.

The couple had borrowed loan from a private party forcing them to put their daughter to work, by discontinuing her studies four years ago. Shashidhar was serving at Arkalgud at that time.

According to preliminary investigation, the girl was allegedly employed through a police constable identified as Paramesh.  However, the relief here is the housemaid was being looked after well, with timely food and other needs. The girl is shifted to the remand home on Lalithamahal road.

Parashuram of Odanadi, an NGO, Children Welfare Committee chairman Venkatesh, Vinuta from the helpline and others were present.
