<p>Karnataka Aranya Moola Budakattu Samudayagala Okkuta women’s wing and Budakattu Krishikara unit members have urged the State government to announce separate reservation for the native tribes. <br /><br />Speaking at the World Tribal Women’s Day observed under the theme ‘Violence and atrocity free society,’ here on Tuesday, Kodagu Budakattu Mahila Sanghatane President J K Prema said, “Our children have completed PUC, BCom, and even MA degrees. <br /><br />However, they have failed to get employment. Many have a notion that ST communities get facilities from the government. However, the native tribes cannot compete with other scheduled tribes, and are thereby denied of opportunities.<br /><br /> Hence, the government should announce separate reservation for Jenukuruba, Bettakuruba, Kaadukuruba, Soliga, Yarava, Malekudiya, Koraga, Halasa, Siddi and Hakkipikki communities,” she said. <br /><br />Indira of Karnataka Aranya Moola Budakattu Samudayagala Okkuta said that the tribals colonies were devoid of basic facilities like drinking water, street lights, and roads. “Our tribals are addicted to alcohol. Tribal women and children are assaulted and suppressed,” she added. <br /><br />Karnataka Women’s Commission Chairperson Manjula Manasa said that the native tribes should focus on educating their wards. </p>.<p>“A society can progress only through education. Also, child marriage should be checked in the community,” she added. ZP President Chodumada Shareen Subbaiah called upon the tribal women to be united. <br /><br />Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari flagged off the jatha at Field Marshal K M Cariappa Circle. </p>
