<p>A team of experts from National Institute of Technology, Surathkal have suggested to the Public Works Department to ensure safe vehicular movement on Perumbadi-Makutta stretch by repairing the road using state-of-the-art technology.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The expert team headed by Prof Shivashankar from NITK paid a visit to the district on Tuesday and inspected the quality of the Makutta Road which was damaged following heavy rain recently.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The movement of vehicles on the road has been prohibited as a precautionary measure, following frequent landslides.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Accompanied by PWD officials, the team carried out inspections at Hanuman Pada, Vatekolli, Memanakolli and Makutta bridge on the Perumbadi-Makutta stretch.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The expert team from NITK is expected to come up with a scientific proposal on the makeover of the road and hand over the same to the PWD. The department will maintain the road accordingly.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The government has recently released Rs 6 crore towards the reconstruction of the road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The NITK team comprised of Prof Shivashankar, Dr Raviraj and Dr Ravishankar. PWD Executive Engineer K E Ibrahim, Assistant Executive Engineer M E Suresh, Assistant Engineer Yatish and Navin were also present.</p>.<p class="bodytext">After the spot visit, the experts held an elaborate meeting with PWD officials at the Inspection Bungalow.</p>
