The police have restricted the entry to Muthathi forest fringe, in Malavalli taluk on New Year Eve.

The entry to the forest region has been banned between December 31 (from 6 am) and January 1 (midnight) following instructions from tahsildar K Chandramouli. A large number of youths from Bengaluru, Mysuru and other parts visit the region for celebration every year.

In addition, Srirangapatna police have clamped prohibitory orders at tourist hotspots such as Balamuri, Yedamuri, Karepur, Karighatta, Boredevara temple and Mahadevapura bridge, to check mishaps during revelry.

The measures have been taken to check littering at tourist places. As a large number of people gather in these areas for celebration, dumping of plastic materials becomes rampant.

In Mysuru too, entry of vehicles and people is restricted on the Chamundi Hill, except for the residents of Chamundi Hill village, on the New Year Eve.

Similarly, revellers have been banned entry to Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district.
