<p>Kalaburagi: Karnataka Border Area Development Authority (KBADA) Chairman Somanna Bevinamarad has directed officials to complete the ongoing works soon.</p><p>Addressing a review meeting here on Monday, he said that funds utilisation certificates of several projects have not been submitted since 2010-11. Pointing out that the Authority is providing incentives for the development of Kannada language in the state and border areas apart from basic facilities such as school classrooms, libraries, sports rooms, school toilets and compound walls for Kannada medium schools in border areas, he said that a total of Rs 22 crore has been released and the Authority has received utilisation certificate of only Rs 7.98 crore. He said school buildings are being constructed in other places without taking necessary clearance in this regard. Such cases have come to light in Vijayapura. He directed the implementing officials to visit the construction sites before releasing grants.</p><p><strong>‘Submit report’</strong></p><p>Expressing dissatisfaction against private organisations for not submitting certificates about the utilisation of funds released for conducting cultural programmes, he said that the financial allocation should not be given until the report of estimates is submitted.</p><p>In Salebiranahalli of Chincholi taluk, a teachers’ residential quarters was built at a cost of Rs 18 lakh. But, the building is not being used. Therefore, Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) officials should visit the place and submit a report after inspection, he said. </p><p>A cultural auditorium is being constructed in the name of Dr Jayadevi Tayi Ligade at a cost of Rs 2 crore in Akkalkot of Solapur district in the neighbouring state of Maharashtra. Inspection work will be held by visiting the place on Tuesday. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would be invited to inaugurate the building. Officials should make all preparations in this regard, he said. </p><p><strong>‘Inspect pending works’</strong></p><p>Deputy Commissioner B Fauzia Taranum said tahsildars and implementing officials should inspect the pending works of the border area in the district and submit a report soon. </p><p>She said, the administration has received complaints regarding the road construction work in Sedam and Chincholi taluks and directed the officials to submit a report after conducting a survey.</p><p>Karnataka Border Development Authority Secretary Prakash Mattihalli, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rayappa Hunasagi, PWD Executive Engineer Subhash Aland tahsildar Annarao Patil, Chincholi tahsildar Subbanna Jamkhandi, Sedam tahsildar Shreyanka Dhanashree, Afzalpur Grade-2 tahsildar Sharanabasappa and other officials were present on the occasion.</p>
