<p> Former MLA Raghupathy Bhat said the ‘padayatra’ against the proposed National Highway connecting Udupi-Hebri-Agumbe-Theerthalli will be staged from Parkala to Karavali junction on March 15.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking to mediapersons, the former MLA said the proposed NH would displace around 28000 people and 3000 structures need to be demolished. <br /><br />Out of this, nearly 600 are houses. The Padyatra will begin in the morning from Parkala high school grounds to Parkala Gandhi Maidan and will conclude with a public rally. <br />The padyatra in Parkala will be organised by the Udupi town BJP unit. <br /><br />The affected people of the proposed National highway will be a part of the padayatra, he added.<br /><br />He said the Central government’s decision to construct the national highway connecting Udupi-Hebri-Agumbe-Theerthalli is a welcome move but it should not overlap on state highway. <br /><br />The diversion at every five kilometre will be another problem, he added.</p>
