Poet Abdul Raheem Teekay passes away

Abdul Raheem Teekay, a well-known writer, poet and entrepreneur, passed away in Mangaluru on Friday, following a brief illness. He was 65.

He had translated ‘The Alchemist’ to Kannada by name ‘Rasavadi’ in 2015 and was the founder president of Kendra Beary Sahitya Parishat.

Teekay was involved in the development of the Beary language. He was the convener of the first Beary literary convention held at Town Hall in Mangaluru in 1988. ‘Mallige Balli’ was his collection of poems in Beary language.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.
