Governor Vajubhai Vala on Thursday appointed senior counsel Prabhuling K Navadgi as the Advocate General (AG) of Karnataka.
Navadagi will replace Madhusudan R Naik, who has resigned from the post.
Additional Solicitor General Navadgi represented Union government before the Karnataka High Court and its circuit benches.
He was designated as a senior advocate in July 2014.
"It is an honour for me to be given a chance to serve as the Advocate General of Karnataka. It was a pleasant surprise," Navadgi told DH.
As a senior counsel, Navadgi had represented Yeddyurappa in several cases in the High Court.
