JD(S) MLC Puttanna led representatives of a few unaided private schools in Bangalore in a protest in front of the Department of Finance at the Vidhana Soudha and sought immediate sanctioning of grant-in-aid status to institutions.

“Though the State Cabinet has given its nod to accord grant-in-aid status, the Department of Finance has delayed granting the same to as many as 250 institutions citing technical reasons. If there is any further delay, we shall intensify the protest,” warned Puttanna.

Besides, teaching and non-teaching staff at several institutions that are located on the outskirts of the City have been denied HRA given to those in an ‘A’ grade city, he added.
The protesters later submitted a memorandum to Additional Chief Secretary L V Nagarajan.
