Rahul’s claims damaging Bengaluru’s image: Suresh Kumar

Former minister and senior BJP leader S Suresh Kumar on Saturday accused Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi with ‘tarnishing the image of Bengaluru by casting doubts on the city’s voters’.

The senior BJP MLA’s statements followed a demonstration held by the Congress to protest alleged ‘vote theft’ in the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency on Friday. “The Congress has now sowed seeds of doubt about the Bengaluru Central constituency among people of the entire country,” said Kumar.

Questioning Rahul’s failure to file a formal complaint with the Election Commission (EC) in Bengaluru, Kumar asked, “The EC office was only a few metres away from the protest site, but Rahul is arrogant, and hence, did not bother filing a complaint.”

Continuing his attack on Rahul, the former minister added, “It is the country’s misfortune that Rahul is the LoP. He has no credibility, and he is only hurting the Congress.”

Charging the Congress with levelling false allegations, Kumar appealed to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, and other seniors in the party to guide Rahul. Meanwhile, he endorsed calls for linking the Aadhaar with voter id cards to check electoral fraud.  decided by seers only,” he said.
